Fixed Fee
Legal Services
Mediate UK fixed fee legal packages turn the agreement you reach in mediation into a legally binding document, for one price agreed before any work starts. Six packages cover a consent order, a separation agreement, a child arrangements order, a barrister review, legal advice and court form completion, from £199 plus VAT.
Which fixed fee packages does Mediate UK offer?
Mediate UK offers six fixed fee legal packages. Prices are shown per person and per couple, because most packages are shared between you. Court fees are listed separately and paid direct to the court.
Consent Order
A legally binding financial consent order, with a clean break if required, drafted by a family law solicitor and filed with the court for you. Your MIAM and up to four hours of joint mediation are included.
Separation Agreement
A solicitor-drafted deed of separation recording your agreement before divorce, or for unmarried couples with joint assets or children. Up to four hours of mediation are included.
Child Arrangements Order
Makes the parenting plan you agreed in Mediate UK mediation legally binding. A family law solicitor drafts the application and lodges it with the court for you.
Barrister Review
An independent written opinion from a practising family law barrister on what a court is likely to order in your financial case. Useful when you are stuck on one issue.
Legal Advice
Advice on your own position from an experienced family law solicitor, by phone, followed by a written report you can keep and refer back to.
Court Form Completion
A trained McKenzie Friend completes your C100 or Form A with you, so it is right before it goes anywhere near a judge.

What is included in a Mediate UK fixed fee, and what is not?
The most common worry about a fixed fee is that it is not really fixed. Here is exactly where the line sits.

Mediation gets you to the agreement. A family law solicitor turns it into a document a judge will approve. They are two different jobs, and Mediate UK keeps them separate.
How does a fixed fee package compare with a traditional solicitor?
Contested financial proceedings can cost £30,000 plus VAT or more for an application that goes all the way to a final court hearing, according to MoneyHelper, and that money comes out of the very assets you are trying to divide.
A settlement negotiated by solicitors without court is cheaper, typically £2,000 to £3,000 according to the same MoneyHelper guidance, but it is usually billed by the hour and every letter between two firms costs you both. A Mediate UK fixed fee package prices the outcome instead of the time.
How does a Mediate UK fixed fee package work?
The Mediate UK consent order, separation agreement and child arrangements order packages follow the same four stages, from first call to a legally binding document. A separation agreement is signed as a deed rather than sent to court.
Free 15-minute call
Mediate UK works out which package fits your situation, or tells you if you do not need one at all. There is no charge and no obligation.
Mediation
You reach your agreement together with your mediator, usually online. Your mediator records it in a memorandum of understanding.
The solicitor drafts it
about 4 weeksA family law solicitor turns your agreement into the correct legal document and sends it to you both to check.
Court approval
The solicitor files it with the court and deals with any query. Once a judge approves it, the order is sealed.

The packages above include mediation, because most couples still have something to work out. If you have already settled everything between you and simply need the paperwork, Family Law Service offers a straightforward online clean break consent order, drafted by a paralegal, for £499 including VAT. No mediation, no sessions and no MIAM.
A paralegal cannot act for you or deal with the court on your behalf, and the Family Law Service clean break consent order is not SRA regulated. If anything is still unresolved, including pensions, the family home or maintenance, the mediated route above is the one that gets you to an agreement a court will approve.
