    Accreditation: WTA

    Membership: Family Mediators Association

Background:   Originally from Northumberland, I relocated to Nottingham and have been a co-director of a successful Telecommunications company since 1999.  During this time my focus as primarily on business management aspects of the company, including human resources (CIPD qualified).  This provided me with a range of skills, experience and expertise including managing people, contractual management and resolving staff matters.

    QU:
Why did you want to become a family mediator?
After 10 years of working in business, I trained as a Person-Centred counsellor, later qualifying as a relationship therapist. I frequently worked with couples coming to the end of their relationship. What struck me were the difficulties people faced by when ending a relationship particularly when there were circumstances such as dependents and financial. Facilitating their needs in a supportive environment felt like something I wanted to focus on and do more of.
    QU:
What do you like most about Family mediation?
Family mediation for me, is about supporting participants in making their own choices, supporting them through the challenges they face when ending a relationship and bringing in the voice of the child and working with parents to ensure their children’s needs are met.
    QU:
What is the most difficult mediation situation you have dealt with?
I am fortunate to not have encountered any really difficult situations. Each mediation I consider a learning experience.
    QU:
What do you enjoy most about working with Mediate UK?
I always feel supported by the Mediate UK, as a team there is always someone to turn to find answers, gain support or just share good news with.
